Binh Phuoc Working with ADB Bank on Climate Change Adaptation Project

(BP Portal) - On the afternoon of 24/3, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Committee, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Binh Phuoc  Province, Mrs.Tran Tue Hien presided over the online work with the delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on the progress of preparation of the project for sustainable development-oriented infrastructure and adaptation of Binh Phuoc province climate change. This is the project that Binh Phuoc intends to use part of ADB bank’s favorable loan capital to implement, with the total investment of the project VND4.961 billion. At the session, representatives of Binh Phuoc provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Boards reported to ADB leaders for a preliminary scale and investment content of the project. The planned Binh Phuoc provincial climate change Adaptive and sustainable development infrastructure project is made up of 3 components. Compositon 1 is the renovation of the anti- flooding Rat stream for the area bordering on Dong Xoai city and the Dong Phu District climate change adaptive; Composition 2 is to improve the connectivity of the road network and composition 3 is to support the strengthening of institutional and policy capacities. On that based, Binh Phuoc wished for the ADB to take an interest and consider pushing for the project to be implemented in the period 2021-2025.

On the side of the ADB, the bank expects to receive a project proposal report from Binh Phuoc province and will soon review it to make sure the proposed contents are appropriate to the climate change adaptation requirements that the bank has communicated with the province. In addition, the ADB noted several problems with Binh Phuoc completing the dossier to qualify for re-borrowing and pledged to work with the province to speed up project implementation.
Appreciation of ADB's role in provincial development, deputy Secretary of the provincial Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee - Mrs.Tran Tue Hien confirmed, Binh Phuoc will soon complete the project dossier and forward it to ADB to ensure consistency and conformity with the bank's requirements. The sustainable development and Adaptation of climate change infrastructure Project B is one of the province's most important, strategic projects in the period 2021-2025 and the next stages in the strategy for urban infrastructure development, transport infrastructure connected to local and interregional infrastructure, which provides a strong incentive for the green, sustainable socio-economic development targets, to address the root causes of sustainable poverty reduction, especially ethnic minorities./.
