Talks between the Vietnamese Ministry of Defense and the Cambodian Ministry of Defence

(CTTĐTBP) - After finishing activities on the border, this afternoon, May 15, the delegations of the two countries' defense ministries had a meeting in Loc Ninh district, Binh Phuoc province. General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member and Minister of National Defense of Vietnam and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh jointly chaired the talks. Speaking in greeting, General Phan Van Giang expressed his joy when the two countries had organized their border Defence friendship. The general stated that this was a very significant activity, the first time that the Ministry of Defense of both countries held ministerial friendship exchanges. More significant, this year is "Vietnam Friendship Year - Cambodia, Cambodia - Vietnam 2022"; 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in the two countries (24 June 1967-24 June 2022); To celebrate 45 years of prime Minister Hun Sen's "road to Ruin Ruin of The Regime of Genocide - Khmer Rouge - Pol Pot" (20 June 1977 - 20 June 2022).

The general expressed his excitement at receiving warm, enthusiastic and supportive support from the local people and the Cambodian Ministry of Defense during these recent operations in Cambodia. General Phan Van Giang also expressed appreciation for the outcome of the 5th Defence policy dialogue, co-chaired by General Nieng, the Permanent Secretary of State for Cambodia, and  Colonel General Hoang Xuan Chien, the Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Defence, which took place yesterday, May 14. The General affirmed, in view of the complex developments of the world and the region; At the same time, as the two countries' armed forces and people are looking to big anniversary activities in the "Year of Vietnam Friendship, Cambodia, 2022," the meeting and sharing of shared interests and unified exchanges of major orientations of bilateral defense cooperation will be a strong motivation for the growing Vietnam-Cambodia defense cooperation. Worthy of being one of the key pillars of the "good neighbor, traditional friendship, comprehensive and lasting cooperation" between the two countries.

Stating that this is a historically significant event, Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh appreciated Vietnam's initiative to hold Friendship exchanges in Vietnam - Cambodia, an opportunity for the military and people of both countries to meet, communicate, understand each other.

Also at the conference, the Cambodian Defence Minister confirmed that Vietnam-Cambodia was two neighboring countries, with a long-standing traditional friendship relationship. Over the past few years, overcoming the difficulties of the Covid-19 epidemic and the complex developments of the world and the region, Cambodian - Vietnamese relations in general, bilateral defense cooperation between the two countries in particular, continue to work well.

Both sides have actively implemented effective cooperation contents agreed at the talks between the two defence ministers in Phnom Penh in December 2021. The activities of exchange of information, maintenance of security, social order and safety in the border areas, and support each other in the prevention of Covid-19, cooperation and training. Has been effectively implemented by both sides. Contributing to greater understanding and mutual trust, fostering friendly relations, and comprehensive cooperation between the citizens and the armies of the two countries, fosters a plot by hostile forces to divide the solidarity and bond between the two countries.

In the coming period, the two agreed parties shall focus on: Strengthening the leadership and directing the coordination and implementation of the unified cooperation contents in the Five-year Defense Cooperation Protocol and the annual cooperation plan; To strengthen delegation exchanges at all levels; Dialogue on defense policies of the deputy Minister level; Cooperation on political propaganda and education; Supporting each other on regional and international multilateral forums...

General Phan Van Giang confirmed that Vietnam's Ministry of Defence had supported Cambodia's successful role as ASEAN President in 2022 and expressed a desire to lead Cambodia's levels: to create favorable conditions and support the Vietnamese community in Cambodia with stable living and business conditions; They support and support Vietnamese businesses, including those of Vietnam's Ministry of Defense, which do business smoothly in Cambodia. Confident that under the leadership of government and Prime Minister Hun Sen, Cambodia will successfully hold commune and ward elections as well as fulfill its responsibilities as the president of 2022 ASEAN.
