(Binh Phuoc Portal) - Promoting the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, veteran Trinh Van Thanh, 70, from Long Ha commune, Phu Rieng district, has made consistent efforts in recent years. He actively participates in economic development and is enthusiastic about local charity and humanitarian activities, contributing significantly to the development of his homeland.

In July, we had the opportunity to visit Thanh's family. Enjoying a cup of hot tea, he pensively recounted the past months...

Having served in the army for ten years, in 1984, after being discharged from the military, he chose Binh Phuoc as his place to start a business. In 1990, he fell in love with cashew nuts, initially trading in small quantities, and in 2015, he established Van Tien Thanh Import-Export Company Limited, specializing in processing cashew nuts. The company has gradually developed, creating stable jobs for about 50 local workers with an average salary of 9-10 million VND/person/month. According to Thanh, he has a "fateful relationship" with cashew nuts, so he and his family will devote all their efforts to developing the company.

Thanh is not only good at business but also a typical example of many contributions to the locality. He is active in charity and humanitarian activities. He has twice donated about 1,300m2 of land to expand the Vu A Dinh Primary School campus in village 7, Long Binh commune.

Pham Thi Tho, Principal of Vu A Dinh Primary School, said: "The school in Village 7 has many ethnic minority students. Seeing that the school is small and lacks facilities, the veteran Trinh Van Thanh family has a plot of land next to the school, so he did not hesitate to donate the land so that the school can expand its area. In 2023, Phu Rieng district has a policy to invest in this school. After being mobilized, Thanh's family continued to donate land to build classrooms and fences.

Realizing that the national target program for new-style rural construction is a major, long-term policy to improve people's lives, four years ago, Thanh discussed with his family donating nearly one hectare of land to build a road to the residential area of Phuoc Tan village, Binh Tan commune. He also contributed almost 1 billion VND to the State to make the road.

With the belief that "giving is forever", every year, the family of veteran Trinh Van Thanh spends hundreds of millions of VND to support difficult circumstances in the locality. During the COVID-19 pandemic, his family donated nearly 5 tons of rice, necessities, and cash worth almost 500 million VND to support disadvantaged households in and outside the district affected by the pandemic. His family supported the district's COVID-19 Vaccine Fund with 20 million VND, donated thousands of notebooks to disadvantaged students, and supported the construction of houses of solidarity, charity houses, and Tet gifts for older people and veterans in difficult circumstances...

In 2023, veteran Trinh Van Thanh was honored to receive the 45-year Party membership badge. At the same time, ministries, branches, and provincial and district People's Committees awarded him many certificates of merit for his achievements in production and business and his positive contributions to the locality over the past many years.

Trinh Van Thanh is an exemplary veteran. Despite his age, he continues to strive in work and production, developing his family's economy and setting an example for his children and grandchildren. Over the years, Thanh has made numerous contributions to the community, always ready to assist those in difficult circumstances. He is a typical, enthusiastic veteran and an active member of the local association's work.
